…to Lewis Carroll (aka Charles Lutwidge Dodson), who’s birthday is today, 27th January. Carroll is the author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (my favorite novel), The Hunting of the Snark, and many poems.
The pious Anglican deacon and mathematician’s writings are often mistaken for having been drug-influenced depictions of some sort of euphoria. People seem to confuse the poor, prudent fellow with Hunter S. Thomson in that respect. If you read it, don’t think about the Tim Burton depiction of it–that will just throw you off.
